What types of strength stations are available?

The right design depends on your goals and available space. Some machines guide the movement, while others allow you to choose your own movement path. Compare exercise options, resistance systems and adjustment features.

Multigyms

Multigyms combine several exercise stations in one machine, often with a built-in weight stack. Depending on the model, you can train different muscle groups without needing separate machines for every exercise.

Explore our multigyms for strength training with several exercise options in one setup.

Cable machines and functional trainers

Cable machines use cables and pulleys to transmit resistance. Depending on the pulley positions and attachments, you can perform varied pulling, pressing and isolation exercises. The resistance felt at the handle depends on the pulley ratio and machine design.

Discover our cable machines for versatile cable-based strength training.

Smith machines and power racks

A Smith machine guides the bar along a fixed path. A power rack supports free-barbell training using bar rests and safety catches, depending on the model. Both can be used for exercises such as squats and presses; pull-ups require a suitable pull-up bar.

Browse our Smith machines for guided barbell exercises.

Half racks and squat stands

Half racks and squat stands provide supports for barbell exercises and may take up less room than a full cage. The footprint, stability and available safety supports vary by model. Allow enough room for the barbell and the full exercise movement.

Explore our half racks for free-weight training at home or in a professional gym.

Leg machines and dedicated stations

Dedicated stations focus on particular movements or muscle groups, such as the legs or back. They can complement an existing setup when you want additional exercise options or more targeted training.

Browse our leg machines for lower-body training.

How do you choose the right strength station?

Compare available space, exercise options, adjustment range and resistance capacity. A weight stack makes changing the load straightforward, while plate-loaded machines use separate weight plates. Check compatibility and what is included. Choose a setup that suits your experience, preferred exercises and expected use, and follow the manufacturer’s load limits and installation instructions.
