Adjustable aerobic steps for varied workouts
An aerobic step makes it easy to add cardio, strength and coordination exercises to your workout. Our adjustable fitness steps and decks have a grippy surface and suit step aerobics, home workouts and group classes. Adjusting the height lets you vary the intensity.
What is an aerobic step?
An aerobic step is a raised fitness platform that you repeatedly step onto and off during a workout. This movement raises your heart rate and mainly works your legs, glutes and cardiovascular fitness. You can also use a step as a raised surface or support for strength, balance and mobility exercises.
What is the difference between an aerobic step and a stepper?
An aerobic step is a freestanding platform that stays still during exercise. You choose your own movements, steps and combinations. A stepper is a fitness machine with two moving pedals for a continuous stepping motion. An aerobic step therefore offers more freedom for a variety of cardio and strength exercises.
Which exercises can you do with a fitness step?
For cardio, use an aerobic step for basic steps, knee lifts, sideways steps and jump combinations where the model is suitable. Combining different movements lets you build a complete step aerobics workout.
Depending on the model, a fitness deck also supports step-ups, Bulgarian split squats, lunges, incline push-ups and triceps dips. Suitable models can additionally provide support for exercises with dumbbells or resistance bands.
Why choose an adjustable aerobic step?
An adjustable step lets you change the platform height, often using separate risers. A lower setting is useful for learning movements or training at a gentler pace. A higher setting increases the range of motion and makes stepping more demanding. Only use the height settings and adjustment system specified for that model.
What should you look for when buying an aerobic step?
Compare platform dimensions, height settings and maximum load capacity. A larger platform gives you more room for different steps and exercises. Check that the top provides sufficient grip and the base has non-slip material to help keep the step stable.
For strength exercises, choose a sturdy model suited to your body weight and intended training. When using additional weights, take the total load on the platform into account.
Aerobic steps for home and commercial use
A compact, lightweight step is practical at home because it is easy to move and store after training. In gyms and group exercise studios, stability, durability and quick height adjustment are particularly useful. Always check the intended usage rating: not every step is designed for daily commercial use.
Using an aerobic step safely
Place the step on a level surface and check that its risers are secure before training. Put your whole foot on the platform and build up speed, height and difficulty gradually. Allow plenty of clear space around it, particularly for sideways steps and jumping exercises.
Aerobic steps are part of our complete range of cardio fitness equipment for training at home and in commercial fitness facilities.
