Protective gear for boxing and martial arts

Protective gear is part of preparing for boxing and martial arts training. Choose equipment that fits properly and is intended for the exercises you practise. Protection works alongside controlled technique, appropriate intensity and your coach’s guidance.

Different activities call for different equipment, such as mouthguards, shin guards or headguards. Explore our protective gear and check each product’s intended use and sizing before choosing equipment for training or sparring.

Why use protective gear?

Protective equipment provides coverage or cushioning for specific areas, depending on its design. Its suitability depends on the activity, fit and condition. No item removes all risk, and wearing protection is not a reason to increase contact intensity beyond the agreed level.

Protection for training and sparring

The equipment you need depends on your discipline, the drill and your club’s requirements. Mouthguards are worn over the teeth, while shin guards and headguards serve different purposes and are not interchangeable. Ask your coach which equipment is required, then follow the manufacturer’s fitting and use instructions. Check any requirements separately if you plan to compete.

Choosing and caring for your equipment

Choose a size that stays in place without uncomfortable pressure or unnecessary restriction. Inspect straps, closures, padding and surfaces before use, and replace worn or damaged items according to the manufacturer’s guidance. Clean and dry your equipment as instructed and combine its use with controlled training and appropriate supervision.
